MY MOUNT EVEREST EXPERIENCE AS SEEN BY THE MEDIA, AND OTHER EVEREST STORIES
My death and my survival were identified as newsworthy by the international media even before I left the base camp in Tibet for Kathmandu. Interest continues three years later, as evidenced by more magazine articles and appearances in TV segments about high altitude physiology and the launch of a spectacular book of photographs of (among other places) the first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953. A new burst of publicity came with my five week promotional tour of DEAD LUCKY in North America, the interest piqued by the screening of LEFT FOR DEAD: MIRACLE ON EVEREST, on the National Geographic Channel on May 20. DEAD LUCKY was reviewed on NBC's Today show.

Lincoln talks to a big Sacramento crowd, May 22, 2008
Thanks to the Al Pierleoni at the Sacramento Bee newspaper, I received a lot of coverage in the capital city of California. The highlight was my presentation to 500 people.

Dan Mazur talks about my rescue
In this casual interview with National Geographic Channel, Dan Mazur describes my perch high on the crest of Everest's North-east Ridge, as well as my erratic behaviour. Along with Andrew Brash, Myles Osborne and Jangbu Sherpa, Dan Mazur encountered me early on the morning of May 26, 2006 at 8,600 metes (28,000 feet) and organised my rescue from that point.

Andrew Denton interview on Enough Rope
ABC TV's Enough Rope is the perfect program title for an interveiw with a mountaineer. Here are two excerpts from my interview with Andrew Denton. Click on the link, which takes you to the 1st excerpt then immediately the 2nd excerpt, followed by clips of the subsequent guests on the show.

NBC Today show DEAD LUCKY Book Launch on May 15 2008
In early June 2006, only three weeks after my descent from Mount Everest, Dan Mazur and I appeared on NBC's Today show in New York as the guest of Matt Lauer. Almost two years later I was back on the Today show talking about my recovery and the North American edition of DEAD LUCKY.

ABC Catalyst and the science of high altitude survival
My extraordinary survival on Everest prompted Catalyst, ABC-TV's weekly science program, to put together a segment on high altitude physiology, featuring me, psychiatrist Dr Brent Waters and accomplished high altitude mountaineer Dr Andrew Peacock

Alfred Gregory's photo exhibition of Everest's first ascent
It was a great privilege to be invited to launch Alfred Gregory's new book ‘Photographs from Everest to Africa‘ in Melbourne in November 2007. ‘Greg‘, as he likes to be known, was a skilled mountaineer and the official photographer on the historic first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953.
